Hæresis emerged from Berlin’s politically charged underground, first taking shape as Heksenhamer before evolving into Hæresis in 2016. Their early sound fused sludge, crust, and raw black metal—abrasive, urgent, and steeped in the DIY ethos of Berlin’s extreme‑music collectives. Over time, the band shifted toward a more atmospheric and post‑black metal direction, retaining their intensity while expanding into layered, emotionally heavy soundscapes.

Their first release, the self‑titled Hæresis demo (2016), captured the project’s raw beginnings and coincided with their appearance on Resistance: Anti‑NSBM Vol. 4, aligning them with the anti‑fascist wing of the European black‑metal scene. The EP To Drown… (2020) marked a significant evolution—denser production, more dynamic songwriting, and a clearer post‑black metal identity. Subsequent releases, including the Z3/12 split (2021), continued to refine their sound.

The band’s upcoming cycle of releases—Echoes of Ashes, Eradicate Taciturnity, the compilation BĂŞte Noire, and the full‑length Si Vis Pacem Para Bellvm (all 2025)—signals a period of heightened activity and creative consolidation. Thematically, Hæresis remains rooted in bleak introspection, social tension, and the emotional weight of conflict, both internal and external.

Hæresis stands as one of Berlin’s most compelling hybrids of crust‑scarred aggression and atmospheric black‑metal evolution—politically aware, emotionally charged, and continually reshaping its own identity.
