Halls of Oblivion have been part of the southern German extreme‑metal landscape since 2007, carving out a sound that merges the emotional sweep of melodic death metal with the darker edge of black metal. Their music is defined by sharp, harmonized guitar work, dynamic drumming, and a strong sense of atmosphere—melodic but never polished to sterility, aggressive yet always anchored in thoughtful songwriting.
The band’s early years culminated in the EP The Blind Legion (2015), which laid the groundwork for their debut full‑length Endtime Poetry (2019). That album showcased their ability to balance melancholic melodies with harsh vocals and driving rhythms, earning them a solid foothold in the German underground. The follow‑up EP …of Hate and Despair (2021) continued refining their sound with tighter arrangements and a more intense emotional core.
Their 2023 full‑length Eighteen Hundred and Froze to Death marked a significant artistic leap—conceptually rich, musically expansive, and released through Apostasy Records. The track “The Summer That Never Was” later appeared on the label’s compilation Releases MMXXII – MMXXIII, further highlighting the band’s growing presence.
