Harakiri for the Sky is a post‑black metal band from Vienna and Salzburg, Austria, formed in 2011 by vocalist JJ (Michael Kogler) and multi‑instrumentalist M.S. (Matthias Sollak). The duo blends intense black metal with atmospheric, post‑metal and post‑rock influences to create emotional, melancholic and expansive music. Their themes often revolve around inner turmoil, despair and existential struggle.

They released their self‑titled debut in 2012 and went on to issue several acclaimed albums including Aokigahara (2014), III: Trauma (2016), Arson (2018), Mære (2021) and Scorched Earth (2025), all through AOP Records. Over the years the project expanded for live performances with additional musicians on bass, drums and guitar, enabling tours across Europe and appearances at major festivals. The band has been noted for pushing the boundaries of black metal into more atmospheric and emotionally complex territory.
