Illunis is a Berlin‑based post‑black metal project founded in 2013, shaped around introspective lyricism, urban atmosphere, and a subtle thread of mysticism. Their sound blends melancholic guitar work with drifting post‑metal textures, creating a mood that feels both intimate and expansive—music rooted in personal reflection but framed by the cold geometry of the city. Illunis approach post‑black metal not as a genre exercise but as a conceptual space, where mood, memory, and metaphysical tension intersect.

The project debuted with a split release alongside Vaelk in 2013, offering an early glimpse of their atmospheric direction. Their self‑titled full‑length Illunis (2021) marked the project’s full realization: layered, emotive, and guided by a strong conceptual backbone. The album explores themes of inner conflict, urban solitude, and the search for meaning within modernity’s shifting landscapes.

Illunis remains a solitary creative endeavor, with all composition and instrumentation handled by M., supported only by a session drummer in the project’s early years.
