Infaustes is a ferocious black/death/thrash metal force from Asunción, Paraguay, formed in 2017 and devoted to a violent, blasphemous aesthetic rooted in South American extreme metal tradition. Their sound draws heavily from the chaotic lineage of bands like Sarcófago, early Sepultura, and the raw Paraguayan and Brazilian underground—fast, primitive, and drenched in war‑charged aggression. From the beginning, the band embraced a deliberately abrasive approach: frantic riffing, relentless blast beats, and vocals steeped in hatred and ritualistic desecration.
Their early years (2017–2020) were marked by intense activity, culminating in the 2019 demo Emerging from the Graves of Devastation, a release that circulated widely in the South American tape‑trading network. The demo showcased their hybrid style—thrash‑infused black/death metal delivered with a raw, necro production that emphasized atmosphere over clarity. Critics in underground zines praised the band’s authenticity, noting their commitment to the chaotic, bestial tradition of the region.
After a brief hiatus, Infaustes returned in 2023 with renewed force and a sharpened lineup. Their 2024 split Oppugnatio Repentina – The Final Craft of Desolation further expanded their presence in the South American underground, offering new material that leaned even more heavily into war‑metal ferocity and ritualistic blasphemy. The same year, they released Eradication Chants: Primeval Decay, a demo that reaffirmed their dedication to raw, destructive black/death metal. The recording is characterized by cavernous vocals, razor‑sharp tremolo assaults, and a suffocating atmosphere of chaos and death worship.
Infaustes’ members are deeply connected to the Paraguayan and broader South American extreme metal scene, with ties to acts such as Glorification, Ἑωσφόρος, and multiple death and black metal projects. Their imagery, lyrics, and sonic identity revolve around anti‑Christian militancy, satanic devotion, and apocalyptic destruction, placing them firmly within the lineage of South American bestial black/death metal.
Now signed to Brazilian Ritual Records, the band continues to operate with a fiercely underground ethos, maintaining direct contact with fans and distros while contributing to the growing recognition of Paraguay’s extreme metal scene.
