Karijes is a Serbian thrash/black metal project founded in 2008 in Sombor, driven entirely by the vision of its sole creator, Destroyer OW. From the beginning, the project embraced a raw, aggressive fusion of thrash metal’s speed and black metal’s harshness, resulting in a sound that is both primitive and tightly executed. Karijes quickly became known in the Vojvodina underground for its uncompromising attitude, DIY ethos, and relentless riff‑driven assault.
The project’s first official release, the Deathstrike demo (2011), introduced Karijes’ signature style: fast, razor‑sharp guitar work, harsh vocals, and a stripped‑down production that emphasized intensity over polish. The demo circulated through local networks and underground distros, earning attention for its straightforward, no‑nonsense approach to extreme metal.
Later that same year, the EP Torn Apart showcased a more refined but equally ferocious sound. The release highlighted Destroyer OW’s ability to craft memorable riffs while maintaining a raw, hostile atmosphere. The EP solidified Karijes’ reputation as a one‑man force capable of delivering high‑energy blackened thrash with conviction and consistency.
Throughout its existence, Karijes has remained a studio‑focused project, with Destroyer OW handling all instruments and vocals. For live performances, he has taken on guitar and vocal duties, supported by temporary session musicians when needed. The project’s independence and minimalistic promotional presence have contributed to its cult status within the Serbian underground.
Now signed to Silent Scream Records, Karijes continues to operate with the same raw spirit that defined its early years, maintaining a steady presence in the regional extreme metal scene.
