Last Funeral was a black metal band from Čačak active between 2004 and 2012, part of the mid‑2000s Serbian underground wave that blended raw aggression with melodic, melancholic undertones. Their sound leaned toward traditional black metal—icy tremolo riffs, harsh vocals, and a bleak atmosphere—yet with a noticeable emphasis on melody and emotional weight, especially in their later material.

The band’s early years were marked by frequent lineup changes, resulting in a shifting but steadily evolving sound. Their first release, the Enrapture the Mortality demo (2005), captured the raw, formative stage of the project: lo‑fi production, straightforward songwriting, and a focus on atmosphere over technicality. This demo circulated through local tape‑trading networks and helped establish Last Funeral within the Serbian underground.

After several years of lineup instability, the band solidified around a core of musicians who would carry them into their final era. This culminated in the release of their only full‑length album, Incipient Grim (2012), issued by Mortis Humanae Productions. The album showcased a more mature and cohesive sound—melodic yet harsh, with layered guitars and a stronger sense of structure. It remains their defining work and the primary reason the band is still remembered among collectors and followers of Serbian black metal.

Shortly after the album’s release, Last Funeral disbanded, with members moving on to other projects across the Serbian extreme metal scene. Despite their limited discography, the band left a small but distinct mark on the regional underground, representing the darker, more melancholic edge of Serbian black metal during the 2000s.
