Libertatis Amore is a melodic black‑metal project from Freiburg, active since 2011 and driven entirely by its founder Morwolf. The project’s name—“Love of Freedom”—stands in stark contrast to its thematic core, which leans toward anti‑human sentiment, warlike intensity, and pagan atmospheres. Musically, Libertatis Amore blends sharp, melodic riffing with a cold, martial edge, creating a sound that is both aggressive and atmospheric, rooted in traditional black‑metal aesthetics but carried by a strong melodic backbone.

Their debut and only known full‑length, Der Traum der Vergangenheit (2012), established the project’s identity with sweeping melodies, pagan‑tinged atmospheres, and a raw emotional tone. The track “Aus dem Nebel” later appeared on two underground compilations—Voices of the Underground 13 (2015) and Black Metal Propaganda Vol. 4 (2020)—marking the project’s most visible contributions outside its own release.

Despite the sparse discography, Libertatis Amore maintains a clear artistic vision: melodic black metal shaped by themes of conflict, ancient memory, and a deep disdain for modern humanity.

Libertatis Amore remains a solitary but potent force in the German melodic black‑metal underground—pagan, warlike, melodic, and shaped entirely by Morwolf’s singular vision.
