Morbus Gravis is the long‑running solo extreme metal project of Anachron’Amon, founded conceptually in 2009 and formally realized in 2014 once the necessary home‑studio resources were secured. The project’s name comes from Latin—Morbus Gravis meaning “grave sickness”—and its creator’s chosen name, Anachron’Amon, is derived from Ancient Greek and Latin roots meaning “he who is against the Light.” These etymologies are not ornamental; they reflect the project’s philosophical and esoteric orientation.

Musically, Morbus Gravis operates at the intersection of industrial black metal and death metal, with a strong emphasis on atmosphere, conceptual density, and ideological exploration. The sound is harsh, mechanical, and ritualistic—driven by programmed percussion, layered guitars, distorted vocals, and samples that reinforce the project’s thematic preoccupations. Unlike many one‑man black/death projects, Morbus Gravis leans heavily into industrial textures, creating a cold, oppressive sonic environment that mirrors its lyrical focus on metaphysics, theology, ideology, and the darker aspects of human consciousness.

The project’s first release, the 2014 demo Pactum Reservati Domini, is both a musical and conceptual manifesto. Its title translates to “The Pact of the Lord’s Preservation,” hinting at the project’s fascination with theological inversion, esoteric symbolism, and the tension between light and darkness. The demo was self‑recorded, self‑produced, and self‑released—an extension of the project’s fiercely independent ethos.

Morbus Gravis remains active, though releases are sparse and deliberately crafted. The project’s identity is defined not by quantity but by conceptual rigor and a commitment to exploring extreme metal as a philosophical medium.
