Мржња (“Hatred”) is one of the longest‑running depressive black metal projects from Serbia, founded in 2008 and driven entirely by its sole creator, known simply as Mržnja. The project embodies the bleak, solitary, and introspective core of DSBM, but with a distinctly Serbian character—philosophical, hostile, and emotionally raw. Its sound is rooted in lo‑fi aesthetics, repetitive structures, and a suffocating atmosphere that reflects the project’s thematic focus on death, hatred, and existential reflection.

Between 2008 and 2014, Мржња was highly active, releasing demos, EPs, splits, and singles that circulated through the underground via tape labels and digital channels. The project then entered a seven‑year hiatus (2014–2021) before returning with new material, including the YouTube‑only single “Уроњен” (2021) and a contribution to the Eerie Darkness Compilation the same year.

Musically, Мржња blends depressive black metal with philosophical undertones—less theatrical than many DSBM acts, more focused on internal decay, solitude, and the psychological violence of existence. The project’s early works, such as Devouring the Eyes of the World (2009) and Ако сам некада имао срце... (2010), established its signature sound: raw guitars, anguished vocals, and a sense of emotional collapse. Later releases like Kroz pepeo kosmosa (2011) and the 2014 single Апостол самоће 2.14 expanded the project’s thematic and atmospheric range.

Мржња’s network of collaborators connects it deeply to the Serbian underground. Early drummer Genocide and occasional vocalist Angeldust both came from the same circle of raw, extreme, and depressive projects, many of which intersect with bands like Cmpt, Ophidian Coil, Raw Gore, and Zloslut.

Despite long periods of silence, Мржња remains active today—an enduring presence in Serbia’s depressive black metal landscape, defined by isolation, philosophical hostility, and uncompromising emotional bleakness.
