Murk is an atmospheric/melodic death metal band from Olhão, Faro, formed in 2013 from the remnants of the earlier project Sattor. From the beginning, the band shaped a sound rooted in heavy, melodic riffing and a dark, brooding atmosphere, blending death metal aggression with a strong sense of emotional weight. Their early identity was defined by a tight lineup featuring Bruno Viegas on drums, Bruno “Bazuka” on bass, Diogo Brito on lead guitar, Nuno Faria on guitars and vocals, and Vítor Campina on keyboards, a formation that allowed them to merge melodic structures with a dense, layered sound.

Their debut EP Tyrants of Decay (2014) stands as their primary recorded statement, capturing the band’s blend of atmospheric tension and melodic death metal drive. The release showcases their ability to balance heaviness with melody, using keyboards to deepen the atmosphere while guitars carry both aggression and emotional contour. Though their discography remains concise, the EP reflects a band focused on crafting a cohesive sonic identity rather than pursuing quantity.

Over the years, Murk maintained an active presence in the Portuguese underground, performing locally and refining their sound while remaining aligned with the melodic death metal tradition. Their work is marked by a commitment to atmosphere, emotional intensity, and a melodic sensibility that sets them apart within the Faro region’s extreme‑metal landscape.
