NightMyHeaven took shape in 2003 in Guimarães, Braga, as a symphonic melodic black/death metal band rooted in mythology and in the shared history of musicians emerging from the local underground. The founding lineup—David on vocals, João Filipe and Nuno Cardoso on guitars, Hélder Oliveira on bass and backing vocals, Bruno Sousa on keyboards, and Nuno on drums—was largely composed of former members of Last Prophecy, giving the project an immediate sense of cohesion and direction.

From the beginning, the band pursued a sound defined by orchestral arrangements, melodic guitar interplay, and a balance between harsh and atmospheric elements. Their debut EP Nightfall in the Spiritual World (2005) introduced this aesthetic with a blend of symphonic textures and black/death metal aggression, establishing the mythological and spiritual themes that would continue to shape their work.

The first full‑length, Nightology (2009), expanded their musical palette with more elaborate orchestrations and a stronger melodic focus, solidifying their identity within the Portuguese symphonic extreme‑metal scene. By this time, the lineup had evolved: Alfredo joined on guitars in 2005 and later took over guttural vocals in 2009, while Toninho transitioned from drum programming to bass in 2011. These changes brought new dynamics to the band’s sound, allowing for heavier contrasts and more dramatic arrangements.

Their most recent album, Across the Dark Side (2016), presents a matured and atmospheric approach, weaving together sweeping keyboard landscapes, melodic leads, and a refined interplay between clean and harsh vocal elements. The album is available digitally and physically, reflecting the band’s continued independence and commitment to self‑production.

Across more than two decades of activity, NightMyHeaven has remained a consistent presence in the Portuguese underground, defined by stability in its core members—João Filipe, Bruno Sousa, and Nuno—and by a dedication to mythological storytelling through symphonic and melodic extremity.
