Paimonia is one of the defining black/death metal forces to emerge from Novi Sad in the 2010s—a project steeped in misanthropy, existential violence, and a sharpened, modern extreme‑metal aesthetic. Named after Paimon, the infernal king who teaches hidden knowledge, the band channels that symbolism into a sound that is both technically precise and spiritually corrosive. Their music sits at the intersection of black metal’s cold hostility and death metal’s muscular intensity, with a strong emphasis on atmosphere, dissonance, and emotional bleakness.
The band’s early years were marked by rapid creative output. Their debut EP Modern Way of Distraction (2012) introduced a sound that was already mature—tight, aggressive, and thematically focused on humanity’s decay. The 2013 full‑length Disease Named Humanity remains their central statement: a furious, articulate condemnation of the human condition, delivered through razor‑sharp riffing and relentless drumming. The album’s reception, both in Serbia and abroad, positioned Paimonia as one of the region’s most promising extreme‑metal acts.
Their 2014 split Anti‑Human Manifest continued this trajectory, pairing them with like‑minded bands and expanding their international presence. The same year, the live video Live Mass Oppression captured the band’s intensity in a raw, unfiltered form. Compilation appearances across 2013–2014 further embedded them in the global underground, especially through tracks like “Salvation Forlorn” and “Contagion Through Aeons.”
Paimonia’s lineup has always revolved around two core members: B.V., the project’s primary creative force, and N.P.V., whose drumming anchors the band’s sound with precision and ferocity. Their past members—especially Khargash, a prolific figure in the Serbian scene—connect Paimonia to a wide network of Novi Sad and Belgrade extreme‑metal projects.
