Remina is an atmospheric gothic/doom metal project formed in 2021, originally rooted in Dunedin, New Zealand, before relocating for a period to DĂĽren, Germany. Conceived as a collaboration between multi‑instrumentalist Mike Lamb and vocalist/lyricist Heike Langhans, the band was created as a vessel for cosmic melancholy—an exploration of the universe, death, and the vast emotional spaces between them. Their music blends ethereal gothic textures with doom‑laden weight, shaped by shimmering synths, slow‑burning riffs, and Langhans’ unmistakable, otherworldly voice.
From the outset, Remina established a distinct identity. The early singles Aeon Rains, Obsidian, and Dying Sun (all 2021) introduced their signature fusion of celestial ambience and mournful doom. Their debut full‑length, Strata (2022), expanded this vision into a fully realized cosmic journey, earning attention for its immersive atmosphere and emotional depth. Subsequent releases—including the Erebus EP (2024) and the singles Algol and Theia (2025)—continued to refine their sound, culminating in the expansive sophomore album The Silver Sea (2025), released through Avantgarde Music.
Remina’s lineup is anchored by its founding duo. Lamb handles guitars, bass, drums, and keyboards, drawing on his experience in projects such as Light Field Reverie, Sojourner, and Lord of Shadows. Langhans contributes vocals and keyboards, bringing her characteristic blend of sorrow and luminosity shaped by her work in Draconian, ISON, and Light Field Reverie. In 2025, drummer Shayne Roos joined the project, strengthening the rhythmic foundation for both studio and live contexts.
The band’s live incarnation includes bassist Bolthorn and guitarist Mauro Ragnoli, both active since 2022, while drummer Riccardo Floridia performed with the group from 2022 to 2025. Together, these musicians translate Remina’s cosmic melancholy into a physical, atmospheric stage presence.
Beyond their core discography, Remina have appeared on several compilations, including Heavy for the Hollers (2024) with the track “Erebus” and The 100 Best Releases of 2025 (Weedian) with “House of Suns,” further solidifying their presence within the international doom and atmospheric metal scenes.
Active since 2021 and continuing to evolve, Remina stands as a bridge between gothic introspection and cosmic vastness—an ever‑expanding constellation within the modern doom landscape.
