Reperias is a young symphonic black metal project founded in 2023 in Freiberg, built entirely around the vision of multi‑instrumentalist Tommy Friedrich. From its inception, the project set itself apart through a clear conceptual focus: transforming the existential dread, moral ambiguity, and psychological tension of Albert Camus’ The Plague into a dramatic, orchestral black‑metal framework. The result is a sound that merges sharp, modern black‑metal riffing with sweeping symphonic arrangements, cinematic tension, and a literary sense of atmosphere.
The debut full‑length “State of Anxiety” (2023) introduced this aesthetic with surprising maturity. The album blends fast, cold tremolo lines with grandiose orchestration, choral textures, and a narrative arc that mirrors the emotional descent of Camus’ novel—fear, denial, revolt, and the fragile persistence of human dignity. In 2024, Reperias released the single “Lord of Lies”, a darker, more aggressive piece that expands the project’s thematic palette while maintaining its symphonic backbone. The track shows Friedrich refining his compositional approach, pushing toward a more dramatic and imposing sound.
