Sacrasphemy was a symphonic black/death metal band from Düsseldorf, active throughout the 2000s and known for combining sharp, aggressive riffing with dense keyboard arrangements and a cold, futuristic atmosphere. Their sound drew from both Scandinavian black metal and early symphonic death metal, marked by dual vocals, mechanical rhythmic precision, and a strong emphasis on dramatic, orchestral textures.

The band formed in 2002 and quickly became part of the regional extreme‑metal underground. Their first release, the “Neidingswerk” demo (2003), showcased a raw but ambitious approach: harsh vocals, fast tremolo lines, and prominent keyboards that hinted at the more elaborate direction they would later pursue.

Their only full‑length, “Kryomechanik” (2007), expanded this vision significantly. The album blended icy symphonic layers with death‑metal heaviness, exploring themes of coldness, machinery, and existential tension. Its sound was both atmospheric and aggressive, reflecting the band’s growing technical cohesion. Kryomechanik became their defining work and remains a cult release among followers of German symphonic extreme metal.

In 2009, Sacrasphemy evolved into Project Entropy, retaining the core lineup and shifting toward a more concept‑driven, science‑fiction‑oriented symphonic black/death metal style. This transition marked the end of the Sacrasphemy name but preserved the band’s musical identity.
