Sangre Eterna (“Eternal Blood”) is one of the longest‑running melodic extreme‑metal bands from Novi Sad, active since 2005 and notable for its evolution from symphonic black metal into a polished, emotionally charged form of melodic death metal. Their early work leaned heavily on keyboards, gothic atmospheres, and dramatic arrangements, while later releases embraced sharper riffing, modern production, and themes ranging from romance and horror to psychological struggle and even video‑game‑inspired narratives.

The band’s first two demos—My Darkest Dreams and Saint (both 2006)—established their symphonic foundation. Their debut album Amor Vincit Omnia (2008) became a breakthrough, blending gothic romanticism with melodic aggression and earning strong underground reception. The follow‑up Asphyxia (2011) pushed further into melodic death metal, with tighter songwriting and a more contemporary sound.

Singles such as Through the Waves of Agony (2012), When Silence Speaks (2016), and Dead Man’s Tale (2022) show the band’s persistence and stylistic adaptability across nearly two decades. Their track “Undead Romance” appeared on the 2011 compilation Message from the Other Side Vol. 1, helping cement their presence in the Serbian melodic‑extreme landscape.

Sangre Eterna’s lineup has always revolved around Ilija Stevanović, whose vocals and keyboard work define the band’s emotional and atmospheric core. Over the years, the band has included a wide network of musicians connected to Novi Sad’s melodic, gothic, and progressive scenes.
