Sascha Rissling was a solo post‑black metal project founded in 2019 in Cologne, built around atmospheric guitar layers, expressive tremolo melodies, and a fully instrumental approach. The project explored the emotional and textural side of post‑black metal—melancholic, expansive, and driven by dynamic contrasts rather than vocals. Rissling’s background in extreme metal and hardcore (Fuck You and Die, Day of Justice) as well as his time in Der Weg einer Freiheit shaped the project’s blend of intensity and introspection.
The debut EP “Inconvergence” (2019) introduced a sound rooted in shimmering guitars, post‑metal crescendos, and a sense of drifting emotional weight. This was followed by the full‑length “Abstand” (2020), a more mature and cohesive work that expanded the project’s atmospheric palette. The album leaned into cinematic structures and layered guitar arrangements, presenting a deeply personal instrumental narrative.
In 2021, the project evolved into Coilshift, marking a new creative phase while maintaining the core atmospheric and instrumental identity established under the Sascha Rissling name.
