Label: Wolfmond Production
Themes: Depression, Melancholy, Lethargy

Seelenqual was founded in 2012 by Shelly and emerged from the German depressive black metal underground with a sound steeped in emotional collapse, lethargic pacing, and post‑metal‑infused atmosphere. Their music leans heavily on bleak melodic lines, distant screams, and a sense of drifting numbness, reflecting the project’s thematic focus on depression and existential fatigue.

The band’s only known release, the EP “Das Leben nur ein Traum…” (2018), captures this aesthetic with raw production, sorrow‑laden guitar work, and a mixture of harsh and subdued vocal textures. The track “Zerbrochen” later appeared on Mondscheinmassaker Vol. 5 (2018), marking their sole compilation contribution. Activity after 2018 is unclear, though lineup changes continued into the early 2020s.
