Selbsthass was an atmospheric/ambient black metal project based in Wittenberge, active around the early 2010s. The project operated with a solitary, introspective aesthetic: long, drifting ambient passages, minimalist black‑metal textures, and a focus on mood over aggression. Little is known about the project’s activity span, but its sole release reflects a raw, solitary vision typical of the German ambient‑leaning underground.
The self‑titled EP “Selbsthass” (2013) is the project’s only known work. Built around cold, repetitive guitar lines and subdued atmospheric layers, the EP leans heavily into isolation and emotional stillness. Its lo‑fi production and ambient emphasis place it firmly within the depressive/atmospheric micro‑scene of the time.
