Shaltev is a long‑running melodic black metal project founded in 1997 by Miroslav Shaltev, who has remained the sole creative force behind the band for nearly three decades. Operating entirely as a one‑man project, Shaltev has built a vast and unusually prolific discography, marked by a raw, personal approach to melodic black metal. His work blends sharp riffing, melancholic leads, and a distinctly individual sense of composition, often moving between black metal, thrash‑infused aggression, and atmospheric introspection.
The project’s early years (1997–2001) were extraordinarily productive, yielding multiple full‑length albums in rapid succession—“Black Magic End”, “Devil’s Valley”, “All Souls Reserved.”, “North Images”, and “In Utero of Your Escape”—followed by two demos in 2000 and the full‑length “Heaven’s Child” in 2001. After a decade‑long silence, Shaltev returned with “Winter Nights” (2011), beginning a second era of steady releases that continued through the 2010s and into the 2020s.
Later albums such as “Songs of Man” (2013), “The Red Squadrons” (2015), “Songs of My Country” (2017), “A Shirt for Jesus” (2018), and “The Yellow Guest” (2020) show Shaltev’s willingness to experiment with themes, tones, and stylistic blends while maintaining his core melodic black metal identity. The project’s output is deeply personal, idiosyncratic, and unmistakably shaped by Shaltev’s singular vision.
