Urisk is an atmospheric black metal project based in Bonn, North Rhine‑Westphalia, shaped around introspective themes and the mythic landscapes of Gaelic folklore. Named after a solitary, fae‑like creature from Scottish legend, the project blends atmospheric black metal with a strong narrative and emotional undercurrent. Its sound is defined by melancholic guitar work, immersive ambience, and a vocal approach that shifts between ethereal lament and raw expression, creating a sonic world steeped in ancient mysticism and personal reflection.

The project’s first release, Oidhche I (2024), introduced Urisk’s aesthetic: mist‑shrouded melodies, layered guitars, and a sense of wandering through forgotten highlands. The demo was noted in underground circles for its evocative atmosphere and its ability to merge introspective black metal with Celtic‑tinged ambience. In 2025, the full‑length Shrivelling Lights expanded this vision, offering a more mature and immersive experience. The album delves deeper into themes of inner decay, mythic symbolism, and the fading glow of memory, supported by richer production and more dynamic songwriting. Later that same year, Oidhche II continued the conceptual thread of the debut demo, further exploring nocturnal moods and Gaelic mythic imagery.

Urisk’s lineup is anchored by Benedikt Brixius, whose experience in projects such as Aetherra and Beltez informs the project’s atmospheric depth and compositional clarity. Vocalist Marleen BĂĽgener adds a distinctive emotional layer, giving the music a haunting and human presence. The live lineup—featuring musicians with backgrounds in Geocide, Japanische Kampfhörspiele, and Los Males del Mundo—brings additional weight and versatility to the project’s performances, allowing Urisk’s studio atmosphere to translate into a powerful stage experience.
