The name "Vulpus" represents a unity between the archetypal concepts of the Wolf and the Fox within mythological beliefs.
Wamphyri is a Portuguese atmospheric/raw black metal project rooted in a vampyric, nocturnal aesthetic and active from the mid‑2010s onward. Operating out of Porto, the project maintains complete anonymity, allowing its identity to be defined entirely through sound and symbolism rather than public presence. Its music is built on lo‑fi rawness, hypnotic repetition, and a ritualistic, blood‑centred atmosphere, evoking the hunger, solitude, and predatory mystique traditionally associated with vampirism.
The first two demos released in 2017 — III and Drinking the Blood of the Bleeding Bloodstained Moon — established the project’s core language: elongated riffs, distant shrieks, and a cold, moonlit ambience that blurs the line between atmospheric black metal and primitive raw black metal. These early works present vampirism not as theatrical horror but as a symbolic state of spiritual decay and nocturnal transcendence.
In 2023, Wamphyri expanded its vision with the full‑length The Blood Chalice of Sanctus Wamphyri, a more developed and immersive exploration of its liturgical vampyric world. The album deepens the project’s ritual character, using repetition and atmosphere to evoke a sense of blood rites and nocturnal devotion. That same year, the collaboration Ciborium of Sorrowful Blood Liturgies extended this thematic universe, reinforcing Wamphyri’s identity as a project where black metal becomes a form of dark sacrament.
Across all releases, Wamphyri remains defined by anonymity, ritualism, and a vampyric symbolic core, crafting music that feels like a solitary rite performed in the shadows — raw, atmospheric, and unwaveringly nocturnal.
