Zappenduster—named after the German colloquialism for “pitch‑black”—formed in 2009 in Clausthal‑Zellerfeld and has steadily carved out a place in the German melodic black/death underground. Their sound blends the sharpness and drive of melodic death metal with the darker tonalities and atmosphere of black metal, resulting in a style that is energetic, riff‑forward, and emotionally charged without abandoning aggression.
