Miške is a young Vilnius‑based pagan/black metal project founded in 2025 by multi‑instrumentalist Karolis ÄŚÄ—sna, emerging as part of the new wave of Lithuanian underground acts focused on historical and cultural themes. Despite its recent formation, the project quickly gained attention for its melodic yet aggressive approach, blending traditional black metal riffing with strong Baltic folk undertones and atmospheric passages. The project’s name—meaning “In the Forest”—reflects its aesthetic: raw, nature‑bound, and rooted in the mythic and historical imagination of Lithuania.
The debut EP Miške (2026) introduced a fully formed artistic identity, with ÄŚÄ—sna handling all instruments and production. The release combines fast, tremolo‑driven black metal with mid‑tempo, folk‑inflected sections and ambient textures. Tracks such as “KarĹľygiĹł Keliais” and “PilÄ—nai” draw directly from Lithuanian medieval history and resistance narratives, while the title track “Miške” emphasizes atmosphere and melodic layering. The EP also includes a cover of Ugniavijas’ “Ar Sninga, Lyja”, signaling a clear connection to Lithuania’s neofolk tradition and reinforcing the project’s cultural grounding. MetalArea
Although still early in its career, Miške has positioned itself within the lineage of Lithuanian pagan metal, echoing the spirit of earlier acts while contributing a modern, polished interpretation. With its independent status and single‑member structure, the project maintains full creative control, allowing Čėsna to refine a sound that balances aggression, melody, and historical storytelling.
