Screaming Silence is a solitary black metal project from Vilnius, founded in 2006 and driven entirely by GarLoq, one of the most prolific and interconnected musicians in the Lithuanian underground. The project embodies the raw, depressive, and introspective side of Lithuanian black metal—minimalist, cold, and emotionally stark.
Their sole full‑length, Feelings of Solitude (2006), was released through Funeral Moonlight Productions and stands as a document of early Lithuanian bedroom black metal: lo‑fi production, distant vocals, and a focus on internal bleakness rather than aggression. The album’s atmosphere aligns with the themes of hate, sorrow, and pain listed for the project, though Screaming Silence has remained quiet since, functioning more as a personal creative outlet than a public‑facing band.
GarLoq’s involvement in numerous other projects—Dark Ravage, Haeiresis, Illithid, and live work with Oboltred—places Screaming Silence within a broader network of Vilnius black metal experimentation. Though the project has not released additional material, it remains officially active and part of the city’s underground lineage.
