Besomar was a short‑lived but memorable presence in the early‑to‑mid 2000s Serbian black metal underground, emerging from Apatin with a raw, pagan‑oriented sound rooted in Slavic mythology and ancestral symbolism. Their aesthetic—reinforced by a logo crafted by Christophe Szpajdel—aligned them with the wave of Balkan pagan black metal that emphasized regional identity, folklore, and a harsh, unpolished sonic approach.
The band’s only known official release is the split The Spirit of the Pagan Past / Вражијег круна (2008), which showcased Besomar’s dedication to cold, riff‑driven black metal infused with pagan atmosphere. Their contribution to the 2006 compilation Sons of Eastern Darkness – Serbian Black Metal Compilation with the track “Final Incounter” helped introduce them to a wider underground audience, marking them as part of the rising Serbian pagan black metal movement of the time.
Besomar’s music leaned heavily on traditional black metal structures—tremolo riffs, harsh vocals, and a raw, rehearsal‑room production aesthetic—while lyrically exploring Slavic pagan themes, ancestral memory, and pre‑Christian spirituality. Despite their limited output, the band left a small but distinct imprint on the regional scene, especially through the later activities of its members in more prominent Serbian acts.
The project eventually dissolved, leaving behind only a handful of recordings and a reputation as one of the obscure yet intriguing pagan‑leaning black metal acts of Vojvodina’s underground.
