In Deaths Embrace was a short‑lived but intense presence in the mid‑2000s Serbian black metal underground. Formed in 2005 and named after the Dimmu Borgir track, the band quickly established itself through a series of raw, aggressive recordings that captured the chaotic energy of Belgrade’s extreme metal scene at the time. Their sound drew from second‑wave black metal—icy tremolo riffs, harsh vocals, and a relentless percussive backbone—while incorporating a distinctly Serbian underground edge: unpolished, violent, and steeped in apocalyptic themes.
The band was highly productive during its brief existence, releasing two demos (Into Chaos and Crni bogovi), an EP (Woods of Grief), and a full‑length (World Desecration) all in 2006. These recordings circulated primarily through tape‑trading networks, local zines, and the tight‑knit Serbian black metal community. Their material was noted for its raw atmosphere, primitive aggression, and the interplay between grim riffing and occasional keyboard textures that added a layer of ritualistic darkness.
In Deaths Embrace also became a nexus for musicians deeply embedded in the regional extreme metal scene. Members were involved with or later joined influential Serbian acts such as The Stone, Kozeljnik, Propast, Infest, Zloslut, and others. This revolving lineup contributed to the band’s volatile creative energy but also to its instability.
By late 2006, the project shifted direction and continued under the new name Death Tower, with some members carrying over into the rebranded entity. While In Deaths Embrace itself was short‑lived, its output remains a snapshot of a fertile period in Serbian black metal—raw, urgent, and uncompromising.
