Оксанат is one of the longest‑running yet most obscure Belgrade black metal projects, active since 2001 and centered entirely around a single creator, Dragan. The project’s identity is rooted in medieval Serbian history, ancestral warfare, and pagan memory—expressed through a raw, solitary form of black metal that has remained consistent for more than two decades.

Musically, Оксанат belongs to the early‑2000s Serbian school of harsh, minimalistic black metal: cold riffing, stripped‑down drum programming, and an atmosphere shaped more by intent than production polish. The project’s early work, including the 2002 demo Ragusini Anonymi and the 2004 full‑length Aurora, established its thematic focus on medieval chronicles, forgotten battles, and the mythic landscape of pre‑Christian Serbia.

After 2004, Оксанат shifted into a slower, more sporadic release pattern—issuing demos in 2010, 2013, and 2014. These later works maintain the same solitary, historically charged aesthetic, with Dragan handling all instruments, vocals, and programming. The project’s contribution “Besmrtan” to the 2007 compilation Sons of Eastern Darkness remains its most widely circulated track, placing Оксанат within the broader Serbian black metal narrative of the era.

Despite its low profile, Оксанат has persisted for over twenty years, functioning as a personal historical‑pagan chronicle rather than a scene‑oriented band. Its longevity and thematic consistency make it a unique thread in the Belgrade underground—quiet, steadfast, and rooted in ancestral memory.
