Пустош (“Wasteland,” “Desolation”) is one of the most compelling newer voices in the Vojvodina black‑metal landscape—a project formed in 2019 in Inđija and shaped by a melodic but still harsh and emotionally weighty approach. Their music leans toward the atmospheric and the tragic, with a sense of fatalism embedded in both the riffs and the lyrical themes of death and destiny.
The band began performing live in 2021, just before releasing their debut full‑length Сутон (“Dusk”), a record that blends melodic black metal with a distinctly Serbian emotional register: mournful, resolute, and steeped in a sense of inevitable decline. The album’s tone is neither symphonic nor depressive—it sits in that rare middle ground where melody becomes a form of storytelling, and black‑metal aggression is tempered by introspection.
Пустош has maintained a stable creative core since its formation, even as the drum and guitar positions rotated through several musicians. The founding duo—Змај and Вожд—remain the backbone of the project, shaping its melodic direction and thematic identity.
