Quietum is a solitary atmospheric black metal/dark ambient project from Portugal, created and performed entirely by PP, a prolific underground musician known for numerous projects across the Portuguese scene. The project embraces a minimalist, introspective, and often oppressive atmosphere, built on long‑form structures, raw textures, and a sense of ritualistic stillness. Quietum’s sound merges depressive black metal elements with deep ambient layers, creating a space where repetition, negative space, and slow emotional erosion define the listening experience.

The project emerged in 2021 with the EP Quietum I, a work rooted in bleak ambience and distant, anguished vocal textures. This was followed the same year by Quietum II, which expanded the project’s sonic palette with harsher black metal passages and a more suffocating emotional tone. In 2022, Quietum released its most substantial work, the full‑length Quietum III, a sprawling album composed of extended tracks that drift between atmospheric black metal, dark ambient meditation, and raw, depressive intensity. The record’s structure—long, immersive movements with minimal thematic variation—reflects PP’s focus on mood over melody, and on emotional dissolution rather than narrative progression.

Across its releases, Quietum maintains a distinctly solitary identity: no promotion, no public presence, no thematic explanations. The project exists as a private, introspective channel for its creator, shaped by isolation, ritual, and the darker edges of atmospheric expression.
