Throne emerged in 2008 from Bački Petrovac as a raw, aggressive black/thrash metal force before later relocating to Bratislava, Slovakia. From the beginning, the band embraced a stripped‑down, violent aesthetic rooted in the earliest traditions of blackened thrash—fast, primitive riffing, harsh vocals, and a fixation on death, occultism, and unrelenting evil. Their music channels the spirit of early Bathory, Aura Noir, and the first wave of black metal, but with a distinctly Balkan edge: cold, hostile, and unapologetically underground.
The project is built around two multi‑instrumentalist members—Morbid Count and Dethroned Emperor—both of whom handle vocals, guitars, bass, and drums. Their dual‑creator structure gives Throne a tight, self‑contained identity, with each release shaped entirely by their shared vision. The band’s debut demo Into the Grimness (2009) introduced this approach: raw production, razor‑sharp riffs, and a grim, occult atmosphere that resonated strongly within the Serbian and Slovak underground.
Though their discography is intentionally sparse, Throne has maintained a steady presence in the black/thrash niche, operating independently and avoiding the polished aesthetics of more modern acts. Their work remains firmly rooted in the old‑school ethos—minimalist, aggressive, and driven by pure underground spirit.
